Kingsthorpe Children’s Centre was designated on 31st March 2008 and already provides many services and resources for families with children from 0-5 years old.

 

The services can be accessed, at present, within Kingsthorpe Grove Primary School.

The refurbishment of the old swimming pool is to start on Monday 21st April. Contractors will be on site between April and August 08. All service providers and activities will move into the Children’s Centre building on completion in September.

There will be a number of public open days before the official opening event.

 

Currently the centre offers access to the following services and activities.

These groups meet in the prefabricated building in Queensland Gardens at the rear of the school:

 

• Healthy Lifestyles

• English as an additional language courses

• Baby massage

• Literacy and Numeracy family learning

• Health Visitors drop in-baby weight check

• Anti-Natal classes

• Access to Job Centre Plus

• Family Support

• Positive Parenting courses

• Extended school provision-Breakfast and after school club

• Children’s holiday club-‘Oscars’

• Local Authority Nursery provision

• Information regarding Private and Voluntary day nurseries

• Special Needs support group

• Child minders

• Yoga classes

• Stay and play

• Music for tots

 

‘Get Active, Get healthy, Get Involved’

 

On May 10th at Kingsthorpe College, Boughton Green Road, come along, between 11am and 3pm, to hear more about the activities available to families in the Kingsthorpe area. There will be a display highlighting the current service providers of the Children’s Centre.
