Easy Pear Tart

 

INGREDIENTS (Serves 8)

 

500g short crust pastry

50g finely chopped hazel nuts

6 large pears cored, peeled and sliced

50g soft brown sugar

3 Bay leaves

Zest and juice of ½ lemon

   

 

DIRECTIONS

 

  1. Preheat oven to 180C gas mark 4
  2. Roll the pastry into a 40cm circle, place on large baking sheet
  3. Sprinkle the hazel nuts over the pastry, reserving 1 tbsp for later
  4. Mix the pears with the sugar, Bay leaves, lemon zest and juice  
  5. Pile into the middle of the pastry leaving a border and gently bring the sides of the pastry over the fruit, but leaving the centre exposed
  6. Sprinkle over the remaining Hazel nuts and bake for 35-40 mins until golden

 

Serve warm with crème fraiche, yogurt or cream.
