Who Lived In My House?

Well? Who DID live in your house?

Over the coming weeks and months we will be introducing you to your neighbours of 1871 to 1901. Regular updates on "Who Lived in my House?" will be released to this site. You'll be able to find out who lived in your house, what they did, who else was there with them, who the neighbours were and what they did. Perhaps you will find some long lost relatives, friends, or even local celebrities. We are planning on releasing this information street by street and hope you find it both interesting and informative. Perhaps you would like to help putting this together, or have some local anecdotes which would add even more colour to this area of the site. If you would like to get involved please get in touch through the "Contact us" page. in the meantime, look out for the first instalments and do let us know what you think.

Coming Soon

On April 29th The Northampton Faiths Forum hosted an evening in which the project BRIDGEMAKERS was introduced by Richard Thompson who successfully piloted the project in Oxford.

To use Richard's own words, "The idea is simplicity itself"!  A small executive group gather names of willing people of different faiths. They then coordinate a timetable for people of different faiths to meet in each other's homes for conversation and some simple light refreshments. There are 3 such meetings arranged each year, so in a year each participating "couple" (could be 2 singles) will meet a couple from three different faith groups.

The meeting in April concluded with several people saying they were enthusiastic about seeing such a scheme operate in Northampton; but for this to happen an organising committee is needed.  Ann Fox and some others from the Quaker meeting are willing to be involved, but at least 4-5 other people are necessary.
