Chocolate and Pear Tart


INGREDIENTS (Serves 4 - 6)


500g short crust pastry

125g ground almonds

2 large eggs

125g softened butter

100g castor sugar

200g melted dark chocolate

3 pears, peeled cored and quartered


DIRECTIONS


  1. Pre-heat the oven to 190C gas Mk5
  2. Roll out pastry and line 24cm tart tin
  3. Leave in freezer for minimum 20 mins
  4. Bake the pastry blind for 10 mins
  5. Remove from oven and reduce oven temperature to 170C gas Mk3
  6. Mix the almonds eggs butter and sugar together
  7. Stir in the melted chocolate whilst still warm
  8. Pour the mixture into the pastry case
  9. Press the pears into the chocolate and almond mixture, cut side down
  10. Bake the tart for 45 mins until pastry is golden brown and the choc and almond mixture is firm


Serve warm with crème fraiche or cream.
